GA notes December 8, 2012

Here are the notes from last GA.

Agenda

1. Homelessness

A rally will be happening at the State Capitol in Sacramento in support of the Homeless Bill of Rights on Jan. 3, 2013 at 10:00 am. Anyone interested in a carpool contact Mark.

A report was made on how to get this issue on the City Council's agenda. Three council members support would be needed to get this on the agenda. The Mayor or the City manager could do this alone, but they proably will not do this. The city's policy on enforcement of the anti sleeping laws were also discussed.

 A report was made on outreach efforts with existing service providers in the area. Perhaps OMP can act as a catalyst to create a conference on the issue. The goal would be to create a broad coalition to work together on homeless issues.

A proposal to create a working group was consented upon. First meeting will be after the holidays, date to be announced.

2. Peace Coalition

A mission statement is needed to join the coalition. This was discussed and a statement was consented upon, based on the survey taken months ago.

3. Facebook

pretty much the same as last week. Anyone want to take over admin for Facebbook?

4. Why are we here? A discussion topic. No concrete proposal, a discussion on what we would like to accomplish within the movement.
